Mutual Insurance Companies in the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE)
A model enshrined in law
Mutual insurance companies fall under the Social and Solidarity Economy (SSE) in accordance with the law of July 31, 2014.
They uphold strong values, as set forth in the AAM charter:
- solidarity, community, and democracy;
- equity among members;
- access for as many people as possible through tailored contracts;
- seeking the best value for money;
- socially responsible management;
- contribution to eco-sustainable growth.
The AAM’s Institutional Role in the Social and Solidarity Economy
Through its representative role within the profession, the AAM thus embodies the social economy in the mutual insurance sector and upholds societal values aligned with future challenges. It coordinates its initiatives with other actors in the social and solidarity economy and participates in their work.
Its presence on these bodies strengthens its influence in advancing the interests of mutual insurance companies through its vice-presidency of the French Chamber of Social and Solidarity Economy (ESS France) and through high-level representation of AAM members on the Higher Council for the Social and Solidarity Economy, to which it has appointed four representatives, one of whom is a member of the Executive Committee.
Mutual insurance companies must set themselves apart through innovation, solidarity, a long-term vision of their business, and, of course, their non-profit status.
